Contact your creditor early
Use the verified contact details in your agreement. Explain whether the difficulty is temporary or ongoing, the payment affected and your realistic position. Ask what support or arrangement may be available and request the terms in writing.
An arrangement is not automatic. Do not stop paying or cancel a mandate on the assumption that a request has changed the agreement.
Prepare a simple picture of your finances
- Take-home income and any confirmed change.
- Essential living costs and other credit repayments.
- The amount you can afford after those commitments.
- Any relevant notice or payment confirmation.
Our budget planner can help organise this privately. Avoid sharing ID documents or financial records through unverified channels.
If the problem affects several debts
Consider speaking to a registered debt counsellor. Verify the person using the National Credit Regulator before sharing documents or paying for services. Ask how the process, fees and restrictions would apply to your circumstances.
This is general guidance. For a ClearRand enquiry, use our support or collections contact. If you owe another creditor, contact that creditor directly.
